Lifestyle Equals Sign We see you

An exciting Digital Arts Program run by Bindi Enterprises in Alice Springs has won the Projects category at the 2021 NT Arts Access Awards. The announcement was made on Friday 3 December as part of International Day of People with Disability celebrations.

The NT Arts Access Awards recognise the contributions of individuals, groups and organisations in the NT who’ve worked to improve accessibility in the creative arts for people with disability, across all genres of creative endeavour. The Projects category celebrates projects which have demonstrated outstanding leadership in accessible and inclusive arts practice.

“This Award is tremendous recognition for the team at Bindi and the great work they do creating career paths for people. We see everyone as equal, and we want all people to have the same opportunities. Bindi’s Digital Arts Program reflects this. It’s social impact in action,” said Lifestyle Solutions CEO Andrew Hyland.

Liesl Rockchild, Bindi Enterprises Operations Manager, said the Bindi team was thrilled to have won the award.

“I’d like to acknowledge Arts NT and TVS for their support in helping us bring our program to life. Since starting the program roll out in April 2021, we’ve employed a Senior Support Worker to facilitate the delivery of our Digital Arts Workshops. We have run two workshops directly from Bindi and another in partnership with Batchelor College,” Liesl said.

“We believe this is the first project of its kind in Alice Springs. Judging by the great response we’ve received from the many participants we’ve welcomed to the program it’s filling a much-needed niche.”

This Award caps off an exciting year for Bindi Enterprises which recently took out the 2021 NT Chamber of Commerce ‘Best Business Collaboration’ Award. It was also a great year for Bindi Enterprises’ Peer Support Worker, Riccardo Capone, who works in the Bindi Contracts Department. Riccardo was a ‘Noteworthy Award’ finalist at this year’s Alice Springs Mayoral Awards in recognition of his contribution to the Alice Springs community.
