In December 2011, Lifestyle Solutions employees were very lucky to share a special reunion between two women we support Caroline and Margaret and their relative Trevaine.
Our Alice Springs staff members were contacted by Trevaine’s foster care mother Barb who wanted to set up a meet and greet time with Caroline (Trevaine’s mum) and Margaret (Trevaine’s Aunty).
Caroline and Margaret were both nervous and excited as they had not seen Trevaine for nine years! In eager anticipation, Caroline said that the time wasn’t ticking over fast enough.
Trevaine and Barb arrived at lunchtime and Trevaine instantly made his way towards Caroline and Margaret, whom were smiling from ear to ear. Barb introduced herself to our staff and immediately reaffirmed to Trevaine that Caroline was his Mama. There were lots of hugs and tears and it was both a happy and emotional moment for everyone involved.
Since this first reunification a few more visits have been arranged, with staff members reporting how fantastic it was to see Caroline showing some motherhood behaviours that were very eye opening and positive. Caroline was really excited to have a visit prior to Christmas so she could give Trevaine a few Christmas presents.
Everyone is looking forward to a few more visits in 2012.
